We are conquering music right now, but will be covering indie film, stores, food, and comedy very soon. In a nutshell, Indie Nation TV is your source for everything indie. Scripts N Screwz - Brick

I know some people may not think its cool to like Moby, especially after Eminem dissed him, but Moby still makes great videos like this and Eminem has been churning out pure shit. This is a really great video from an Indie Icon. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Moby - Pale Horses

One of the best songs of the year and a very interesting video. I love director Patrick Daughter's work. I'm not really sure whats going on here or if there is a story line, but its a really cool video none-the-less.

Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks

We offer a lot of different video segments at Indie Nation TV. In this segment UK Singer-Songwriter Samuel Stewart shops for his "Top 5" Records of the Decade at Origami Vinyl in Silverlake, CA. He's only 22, but has already produced full length albums for himself and others. He is the son of Dave Stewart, one half of the Eurythmics, but for some reason he wants to get away from that. Sorry Sam, I love the Eurythmics. I would definitely be repping that. If you want to check out Samuel Stewart in concert, he has a 10PM show tonight at the Silverlake Lounge in L.A.

Top 5: Samuel Stewart

OLD SCHOOL SUNDAYS - FANNYPACK

Who remembers Fannypack's 2003 debut album So Stylistic? It featured that ridiculous track "Cameltoe" about the appearance of a woman's neither region in clothes. It got some pretty decent notice and popularized the phrase even further. The surprising thing was that other tracks on their debut album were pretty damn decent. Some songs were a little ridiculous, like the unbelievably simple "Things," but some tracks really held up as a flashback to 80's Hip-Hop and electro.

ZERO 7 & THE ORPHEUM

Zero 7 - Mr. McGee (Live)

Zero 7 has become one of my favorite bands over the past 8 years. They perfectly blend two of my favorite genres, electronica and slow girl. They have made great chill out tracks like "In the Waiting Line" and "Destiny," but on this album they also get pretty dancey. The video clip above is taken from their Sold-Out show at the Orpheum in Downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday. It was my first time at the Orpheum, and I was disappointed to see that it was a seated venue. I was hoping to dance around a little, but a good number of people actually got out of their seats and started grooving in the aisles. And thats why Zero 7 is so amazing. They put a lot of energy and imagination into their live shows and they jam the fuck out. They played their new track "Ghost sYMbOL" for literally 20 minutes.

Zero 7 is basically 2 producers who bring on different musicians and vocalists for their albums and live shows. On previous albums and tours they've used singers Tina Dico, Sophie Barker, Mozez, and Jose Gonzalez, but the most notable absence was from Zero 7 staple Sia. Yeah Ghost marks the first time that Sia was not featured on a Zero 7 album, and it was my first time seeing them perform without her. And though Sia is a great musician, Zero 7 still rocked the house without her. Their success with this new album and their ability to make great albums with different line ups has to make Zero 7 a strong contender for Best New Band of the Decade.

THE NEW & IMPROVED GOLDEN BLOGGEN

I've been hard at work behind the scenes working on the new Golden Bloggen site.If you have been coming to Golden Bloggen for a while now you may have noticed that a lot of the links on the Homepage and elsewhere say "Coming Soon." Well not anymore! Let me introduce you to the NEW & IMPROVED GOLDEN BLOGGEN!

We have a RETAIL STORE where you can grab a Golden Bloggen T-shirt (pictured above) or Barab O Marley Tee (Barack Obama meets Bob Marley).

We have a new and improved PHOTO PAGE. I bet some of you didn't even realize that I always had a photo page.

And last but most definitely not least, we finally have a VIDEO PAGE. I have joined forces with my friend Kelley who runs Wolf Vision Productions and is responsible for producing several MTV True Life's. We have been running around the city documenting the best indie bands and concerts over the past few months. So if you are gonna be in LA and have a really cool indie group let us know. Also with our new site we are trying to ressurect the music video, so send in your cool music videos as well. So without further ado, I introduce to you.... INDIE NATION TV.

So to celebrate the year long completion of Golden Bloggen here is a mix I made as my alter ego Kool Ethan. If you don't get the reference, you should really watch Slackers. I've been DJing at house parties for a while and had a couple radio shows in college, but I recently got the new Scratch Live and can now record my sets. I'm still working on getting the sound levels right but hope you enjoy!

***Kool Ethan - DANCING IN THE DUNGEON MIX***

And here is a bonus mix. This is just me fucking around when I was drunk over the weekend. It's not perfect, but there are some pretty dope jammies on here so I'd thought I share it.
Warning: It gets pretty crazy at the end. I was just having fun.

MUSIC VIDEO MONDAY - FLEETWOOD MAC

Fleetwood Mac - The Chain (1977 Live Version)
Dir. Bruce Gowers

Something that I've stated a few times on this site is that my favorite rock band of all-time is Fleetwood Mac. Not Zeppelin, not the Beatles, not Rolling Stones, not Hoobastank. Fleetwood Mac just got everything right. They have the both male and female vocals as well as great musicians backing them up. The can make a pop song, a blues track, or the perfect rock epic. And of course it doesn't hurt that Stevie Nicks is their frontwoman.

Fleetwood Mac - Gypsy (1982)
Dir. Russell Mulcahy

This maybe my favorite Fleetwood Song. It's close. Maybe this or Rhiannon, which I posted on last week's MVM. It's a battle choosing a favorite. It's like Sophie's Choice.

Fleetwood Mac - Dreams (Live)

This is one of the cornier Fleetwood Songs, but it's still amazing. Along with the Beatles and Stones, Fleetwood is one of those bands where you can't believe that they have so many recognizeable hits. Before I even knew who they were I had heard so many of their songs on the radio or TV shows or in movies that I could already sing them word for word.

Fleetwood Mac - Hold Me (1981)
Dir. Steve Barron

Here's an actual cool video from the guys. Most of their videos are live performances from the 70's or cheesy videos from the 80's. And though this may look like one of those cheesy 80's videos, I'm betting at the time (22 years ago) it was pretty revolutionary.

Fleetwood Mac - Big Love (1987)
Dir. Danny Kleinman

Fleetwood's 1997 reunion was really the first time I had put together the name with the band. I didn't listen to much rock before 1997, because before 1997 I just watched Hip-Hop videos on The Box and listened to Hip-Hop radio. But after The Box ceased to exist I opened my mind and ears to other genre's of music. Lucky for me it just so happened to coincide with Fleetwood Mac's reunion.

OLD SCHOOL SUNDAYS - N*E*R*D

I have a pretty good CD collection but this is one of the most rare albums I own. Most of you may have N*E*R*D's 2002 debut album In Search Of..., but I doubt many Americans own the 2001 original release. In Search Of... was praised by many critics because mainstream pop producers, The Neptunes, recorded a rock album that blended Hip-Hop vocals and dance beats for an album that was unlike anything else out at the time. But it was the album that almost wasn't. N*E*R*D had already recorded their debut album and released it in 2001. They used their typical Neptunes, drum-machine produced sounds, but for some reason they weren't feeling it and the album was only released on Import. They went back to the studio with band Spymob to re-record the album with live instruments that would give it a more rock feel. The revamped album would go on to sell millions of copies worldwide and make N*E*R*D more than just a gimick side project. The tracks below are from that hard to find original recording of In Search Of... Enjoy.

N*E*R*D - Lapdance

N*E*R*D - Run to the Sun

N*E*R*D - Rockstar - Poser

NEW SADE

Sade is back! For those of you who followed my Top Female Singers list know that Sade came in at #1. I am proud to say that I just received the first single from her forthcoming album Soldier of Love. It's classic Sade that seems to pick up where Lovers Rock left off. The album is scheduled for a February 8th, 2010 release, a full 10 years since her last effort. But, the wait was well worth it. This preview version is stream only, but I will deliver the downloadable version as soon as I get it.
