FYF FEST 2009

Tim & Eric @ FYF Fest 09

FYF Fest, also known as Fuck Yeah! Fest, returned to LA with a new look. The Indie-Hipster festival which previously held their shows at the Echoplex, and other LA venues, decided to go for the real festival look this time. They borrowed some "park grounds" in the middle of Downtown LA to set up 3 stages on a few grassy/dirty acres of land in the middle of Chinatown. I actually love the randomness of a festival in a park in the middle of Downtown, but it was a pretty ugly park. And don't get me started on the food. I know it's primarily a hipster fest but why does that equal anorexic vegan? It's a festival y'all. Break out the food! A brotha is hungry. But, the humble festival did have a very impressive line up and that's the point of a music festival... right?

The daytime line up held some nice up and coming indie bands, but the obvious daytime stand outs were the Thermals, whose melodic rock had everybody... moshing? The best performers of the fest were definitely the late night headliners. Glass Candy who closed out the front stage, brought out beach balls for everyone to smack around. You would be amazed by how entertained people are by beach balls. PB Wolf killed everybody with his 90's Music Video DJ set, and Tim and Eric brought the funny with their ridiculous comedy stylings, as featured in the video above. They aren't the best musicians, but it added to the funny. But the big surprise had to be Lightning Bolt who had the most live crowd of the night. Their drummer was possessed!

Ssion - Clown (Glass Candy Remix)

Glass Candy - Computer Love
