OLD SCHOOL SUNDAYS - LUSCIOUS JACKSON

I first heard about Luscious Jackson when they provided a song for the Clueless soundtrack back in 1995. They next year they made an even bigger splash with the release of their sophomore album Fever In Fever Out. "Naked Eye," the first single off that '96 album, still proves to be their biggest hit. They also made a lot of noise because they were on Beastie Boys' short-lived record label Grand Royal. Some people even referred to them as a female version of the Beastie Boys, which may seem a little lofty, but like the Beastie's they were very eclectic and never stuck with one genre. They released 3 albums total and an EP or 2 before disbanding in 2000. They're like my ideal band; female musicians making Hip-Hop influenced indie pop. But back in '96 I was only 13, so I never got to see LJ in concert. I'm hoping they become one of those bands that reunites for Coachella. There is still some hope... lead singer Jill Cuniff released a pretty decent solo album in 2007.

Hey! Thanks for posting this, Luscious Jackson is my favorite band, because of Fever In, Fever Out. Of the members, Jill Cunnif released a solo album, Gabby Glaser released a solo album in 2008 that I stumbled across on iTunes that is good, but the best stuff that I've heard came from side projects Vivian Trimble & Jill Cunnif released an album together as Kostars called Klassics with a K it sticks with the sounds of Fever In Fever Out, but a little more mellow and then Vivian Trimble put out an album with Josephine Wiggs of the Breeders in a band called Dusty Trails with a self titled album. Mellow as well, experimental, but good.

I TOO WISH THEY WOULD REUNITE! Those ladies had such a special magic to their sound on Fever In Fever Out. I was 18 when it came out and never got to see them. One day, I hope!
